Main Reasons of Discrimination and Ways to Conquer It in 2023

It is essential to note that societal unfairness is expected despite the overall steps to curb it. In modern society, discrimination can come in different forms that subjugate people due to their culture, religion, and gender difference. In this regard, discernment is a complex issue that various factors, such as social norms, stereotypes, and individual biases, can influence. Thus, this essay intends to explore reasons for unfairness and potential solutions.

Firstly, ignorance plays a significant role in promoting discernment in society. In most stances, people engage in unfair practices towards others due to limited knowledge of a particular culture. As a result, many people rely on unrealistic and misleading information about other people’s values leading to stereotypes and discriminatory behaviors (Mate et al., 2019). Therefore, the government can create educational training programs that educate people on tolerance towards extensive cultures and values.

Besides, there is a consensus that most people are often carried away by fear leading to discernment. For instance, there is a likelihood that most people are threatened by people who are not like them, thus fearing completion. Such fear may also result from misinformation regarding lifestyles and religious inferentiality (Mate et al., 2019). As a result, there is a need to increase understanding and promote positivity toward people that may seem different from a group. 

Lastly, social norms have, for a long time, led to discernment at all levels across the globe. For instance, the overall attitude towards gender roles in society believes that women are better at home rather than working. Such attitudes contribute to misleading perspectives and believe women are inferior to me. Therefore, women need help to get fair representation in society and workplaces (Mate et al., 2019). In this regard, there is a need to change this attitude and promote fairness across all angles of society.

To sum up, discernment in society has existed for a long time and is a result of many factors. In this regard, overcoming it needs sound research and an easy-to-understand approach to increase understanding, exposure, and tolerance in society.
